Dangerous Goods

Ty-Gard DS® is approved to secure dangerous goods by road, rail and ocean, tested against the regulations and guidelines below.

Rail

Extremely demanding longitudinal impacts

Rail transportation subjects transport units and cargo to extremely demanding longitudinal impacts. Rail authorities require shippers to secure dangerous goods and general cargo. Ty-Gard DS meets rail transport of dangerous goods guidelines set out in the EU's RID and, in the US, by the Association of American Railroads (AAR).

Highway

ADR in the EU, FMCSA in the US

Motor carriage of dangerous goods in the EU is governed by ADR. In the United States it is governed by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). Ty-Gard meets the pertinent guidelines set out in both.

Ocean

Performance-based standards under IMDG §7.5.2.2

Securement of dangerous goods during international ocean transportation is subject to the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code, which sets performance-based standards in section 7.5.2.2. The International Maritime Organization's CTU Code provides specific securing method recommendations and references Ty-Gard.
