Cargo type

Pulp & Paper

Pulp moves in high volume by rail, bracing against a bulkhead built from reusable Shock-Gard® panels instead of one-way pulp-and-paper dunnage.

Transport units

Containers, trailers and railcars

Ty-Gard DS secures this cargo in containers, reefers and trailers; Shock-Gard panels protect it in railcars. Load plans on Tech Hub and the finder narrow it down to your unit.

  • 20' Container
  • 40' Container
  • Reefer Container
  • Road Trailer (45–53')
  • Railcar

Problem

One-way dunnage is slow, single-use and leaves debris

Pulp shipments brace against a bulkhead at the end of the car, and that bulkhead is usually built from one-way pulp-and-paper dunnage or wood blocking. It has to be built fresh for every load, it is single-use, and it leaves debris to clear at the destination dock. Rail coupling impacts can still crush the load through a bulkhead that wasn't engineered to absorb the shock.

  • — One-way pulp-and-paper dunnage and wood blocking are single-use and must be rebuilt every load
  • — Rail coupling impacts push the load through one-way dunnage
  • — Spent dunnage becomes debris to clear at the destination dock
