Pulp & Paper

Pulp and paper products travel in high volume by rail, bracing against a reusable Shock-Gard® bulkhead instead of one-way dunnage rebuilt for every load.

Problem

One-way dunnage rebuilds every load and leaves debris

Pulp, paper rolls and bales brace against a bulkhead at the end of the railcar, most often built from one-way pulp-and-paper dunnage or wood blocking. That bulkhead has to be rebuilt for every load, is single-use, and leaves debris to clear at the destination dock. Coupling impacts can still crush the load through a bulkhead that wasn't engineered to absorb the shock.

  • — One-way pulp-and-paper dunnage and wood blocking are single-use and rebuilt every load
  • — Rail coupling impacts push the load through one-way dunnage
  • — Spent dunnage becomes debris to clear at the destination dock
