Ty-Gard · How to use

About three minutes per band

Each Ty-Gard® band installs in approximately three minutes. The same four steps apply across drums, IBCs, FIBCs, pallets and loose cargo — see a demonstration, follow the installation instructions, or generate a loading guide for your cargo.

Step by step

Prepare, load, tension, seal

  1. 01

    Prepare

Anchor the patches to the sidewall in the predetermined position.

  2. 02

    Load

Pull the band across the face of the load, overlapping the ends by about 1 ft (30 cm).

  3. 03

    Tension

Insert the tensioning tool through the overlap and tension with the wrench.

  4. 04

    Seal

Seal the tensioned band with a patch and a bonding roller.

Regulations by mode of transport

Dangerous goods references →

Rail transportation subjects cargo to demanding longitudinal impacts, and rail authorities require shippers to secure dangerous goods and general cargo. Ty-Gard meets rail transport requirements set out in the EU's RID and, in the US, the Association of American Railroads (AAR).

Motor carriage of dangerous goods is governed by ADR in the EU and by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) in the US. Ocean transport is governed by the IMDG Code, which sets performance-based standards in section 7.5.2.2; the IMO CTU Code provides specific securing method recommendations.
