Automotive

Auto parts racks and bins move by rail boxcar and intermodal trailer, braced against a Shock-Gard® bulkhead instead of one-way wood blocking.

Problem

Racks and bins shift and crush in transit

Parts racks and bins stack tight against a boxcar bulkhead or a trailer nose, and rail coupling impacts and highway braking push the load forward. A rack that crushes against a rigid bulkhead reaches the plant as a damaged part, and the line has to work around the shortage. One-way wood blocking has to be rebuilt for every load and leaves debris at the dock.

  • — Racks and bins shift forward under rail coupling impacts and highway braking
  • — A crushed rack reaches the plant as a damaged part and a line shortage
  • — One-way wood blocking must be rebuilt every load and leaves debris at the dock

Compliance

Approved for rail and intermodal transport

AARShock-Gard is tested and approved by the Association of American Railroads (AAR) and the US Army; Ty-Gard approved by AAR since 2006.
FMCSATy-Gard DS meets FMCSA cargo securement guidelines for US highway transport.
ISO 9001Ty-Gard production certified to ISO 9001 since 2008, with QC traceability for Fortune 500 supply.
FacingShock-Gard panels use an anti-microbial coated, high-tensile facing; Ty-Gard DS peels off with no surface residue.
