Cargo type

IBC Totes

Intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) and totes move single or double-stacked by intermodal, rail and ocean, secured to the wall with Ty-Gard DS®.

Transport units

Containers, trailers and railcars

Ty-Gard DS secures this cargo in containers, reefers and trailers; Shock-Gard panels protect it in railcars. Load plans on Tech Hub and the finder narrow it down to your unit.

  • 20' Container
  • 40' Container
  • Reefer Container
  • Road Trailer (45–53')
  • Railcar

Problem

Stacked totes tip and rupture under impact

Intermediate bulk containers stand tall and carry their weight high, so a double-stacked load leans and shifts when a trailer brakes or a railcar couples. A tote that tips against the doors can rupture and spill its contents, and the load has to be re-blocked or the delivery rejected. When the contents are dangerous goods, the securement method also needs to satisfy a documented, approved standard.

  • — Single or double-stacked totes shift and lean under braking and rail coupling impacts
  • — A ruptured or tipped IBC is a spill, a rejected delivery, and a cleanup at the dock
  • — Liquid dangerous goods in totes require a securement method approved under IMDG and 49 CFR
