Problem

Drums roll, tip and rupture against the doors

Drums concentrate their weight on a small round base, so they roll and tip when a trailer brakes, a railcar couples, or a vessel rolls at sea. A drum that reaches the doors can rupture, spill its contents, and injure whoever opens them. When the load includes dangerous goods, the securement method also has to satisfy a documented, approved standard, not just hold the load in place.

  • — Loose or palletized drums roll and migrate toward the doors under braking and coupling impacts
  • — A ruptured or leaking drum is a rejected delivery, a spill, and a safety incident at the doors
  • — Dangerous goods drums require a securement method approved under IMDG, 49 CFR and AAR guidelines
